New Delhi, Oct 24: A day after he walked out of Tihar jail, former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Thursday met AICC general secretary in-charge KC Venugopal.
Mr Shivakumar, along with his brother and Lok Sabha MP DK Suresh, reached AICC headquarters around noon. "It was a moment of joy when DK Shivakumar visited me today. BJP’s vendetta politics can never defeat us in our fight to save democracy", Venugopal tweeted moments after the meeting with the Karnataka leader.
Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Mr Shivakumar, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on September 3 on an alleged money laundering case.
"I thank all those who have helped me and stood by me in the hour of crisis. I thank all the leaders of various political parties, including my party president Sonia Gandhi, she came all the way to visit me give me strength and solidarity", Mr Shivakumar had responded after walking out from jail. Ms Gandhi, on Wednesday visited the senior Congress leader in Tihar jail.
The Court had also instructed Mr Shivakumar not to leave the country without the it's permission.
Earlier, Mr Shiavakumar had criticised the BJP-led government for his arrest saying the IT and ED cases against him were politically motivated. 'I congratulate my BJP friends for finally being successful in their mission of arresting me. The IT and ED cases against me are politically motivated and I am a victim of BJP’s politics of vengeance and vendetta,' he had tweeted. (UNI)
