New Delhi, Oct 23 : Justice Arun Mishra-led five judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court dismissed on Wednesday a plea for his recusal from hearing a land acquisition case.
His recusal was sought on ground of predisposition for having passed a judgement in the matter in February, last year.
"I am not recusing in the present land acquisition cases, I am hearing. The petition is devoid of merits," the bench said in its order.
A Constitution bench on last Wednesday had reserved its order on pleas seeking recusal of Justice Mishra, who is heading the bench hearing the case on land acquisition law.
Earlier also, Justice Mishra had, during the course of the hearing, made it clear that he will not "succumb" to pressure tactics and that parties cannot be allowed to indulge in bench-hunting. (UNI)
