Chennai, Oct 7: Chinese President Xi Jinping would be landing in the city at 1.20 pm on Friday for the second Indo-China bilateral summit to be held at Mahabalipuram on October 11 and 12.
As per the tentative schedule, Mr Xi, who would be holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on bilateral and trade issues, would be staying in a star hotel at Guindy in the city, which has been made into a veritable security fortress.
Soon after the Chinese President's arrival, he would be welcomed with a traditional dance and music at the airport, from where he would proceed to the hotel at 1.45pm. When the Chinese President arrives, no domestic and international flights would be operated for about 10 to 15 minutes and airlines were advised to reschedule their timings.
After some rest, he would leave for Mahabalipuram, about 55 km from here by road, where he along with Modi would be visiting Arjuna's penance at 5pm, Five Rathas at 5.20 pm and the famous Shore temple at 5.45pm. After witnessing a cultural festival and meeting important leaders, he would return to the hotel at 9pm.
On October 12, Mr Xi would leave for the coastal town at 9am where he would hold bilateral talks with Mr Modi. After a luncheon meeting with Mr Modi, Mr Xi would leave for Chennai at 1.15pm and after seeing off important people at the old a rport, he would leave for China at 2.20pm. (UNI)
