Seeking bail, Chidambaram moves Supreme Court


Senior Congress leader and former Union finance minister P Chidambaram, who has been in judicial custody, moved the Supreme Court Thursday seeking bail in the INX media case.

The new move after the Delhi High Court denied bail to him on the ground that his release on bail may have led to influencing witness “directly or indirectly”.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Chidambaram, mentioned the matter for urgent listing before a bench headed by Justice N V Ramana. The bench, also comprising justices Sanjiv Khanna and Krishna Murari, said that Chidambaram’s plea would be sent to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi for taking a call on the listing of the matter.
