New Delhi, Oct 2: Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General SS Deswal traversed on foot around 103 Kms of high altitude BOPs and border areas in Himachal Pradesh to meet the ITBP personnel deployed on high altitude areas, an official statement said.
Leading by an example in fitness and camaraderie, Mr Deswal with other senior officers from ITBP Force Headquarters crossed undulating terrain and few fast flowing mountain rivers.
It was a rare feat considering he became the first DG of the force to travel such a distance on foot and stay at forward areas, ITBP said.
Low on oxygen but high on 'josh' (spirit), Deshwal covered the distance in two and a half days.
Earlier in June, he went to Lipulekh Pass on foot and also trekked 42 km to meet ITBP personnel guarding Amarnath Yatra in July, 2019, the statement said. (UNI)
