Kolkata, Sep 29: A CBI team today raided BJP leader Mukul Roy's house at Elgin Road in the and videographed the raid for an hour.
The CBI conducted the raid taking along IPS officer SMH Mirza it arrested Thursday last.
The raid happened a day after former no. 2 TMC leader was grilled by the Central investigating agency for over two and half hours at Nizam Palace in the city. The CBI officials said the raid was conducted on Roy's Elgin Road residence as Mirza alleged that a huge amount of money was given to him at the location and the exercise was an attempt to reconstruct the alleged crime.
Mr Roy remained cooperative during the hour-long raid, the CBI officials added. The BJP leader appeared before the CBI at the Nizam Palace on Saturday, responding to a second successive notice of the Central investigating agency. Mr Roy had failed to appear before the CBI on Friday as he was preoccupied in connection with BJP's national working president JP Nadda's visit to the city, sources said.
Former No 2 TMC leader is among the 13 accused in the Narada sting opertions conducted by Narada CEO Mathew Samuel five years ago. Earlier, Mr Roy had sought more time( up to Oct 2) to appear before the investigating officers of the CBI, probing the scandal.(UNI)
