Mid-Day’s Shailesh Gupta new Indian Newspaper Society chief

Bengaluru, Sep 25 : Mid-Day's Shailesh Gupta was elected President of the Indian Newspaper Society for the year 2019-20 at its 80th Annual General Meeting here on Wednesday.

He succeeds Mr Jayant Mammen Mathew of Malayala Manorama, the INS said in a statement. Mr L Adimoolam (Health and The Antiseptic) is the Deputy President, Mr DD Purkayastha (Ananda Bazar Patrika) is the Vice-President and Mr Naresh Mohan (Sunday Statesman) is the Honorary Treasurer of the Society for the year 2019-20. Ms Mary Paul is the Secretary-General of the Society.

The new 41-member Executive Committee of the media flagship of the nation includes Vijay Jawaharlal Darda of Lokmat, Nagpur, Vivek Goenka of The Indian Express, Mumbai, Mahendra Mohan Gupta of Dainik Jagran, Ravindra Kumar of The Statesman and Jayant Mammen Mathew of Malayala Manorama.

The other members of the Executive Committee are S Balasubramaniam Adityan (Daily Thanthi), Girish Agarwal (Dainik Bhaskar, Bhopal), Samahit Bal (Pragativadi), Gaurav Chopra (Filmi Duniya), Vijay Kumar Chopra (Punjabi Kesari, Jalandhar), Karan Rajendra Darda (Lokmat, Aurangabad), Jagjit Singh Dardi (Charhdikala Daily), Pradeep Gupta (Dataquest) and Sanjay Gupta (Dainik Jagran, Varanasi).

The Executive Committee also includes Mohit Jain (Economic Times), Sarvinder Kaur (Ajit), MV Shreyams Kumar (Mathrubhumi Arogya Masika), Dr R Lakshmipathy (Dinamalar), Vilas A Marathe (Dainik Hindustan, Amravati), Harsha Mathew (Vanitha), Anant Nath (Grihshobhika, Marathi), Pratap G Pawar (Sakal) and Rahul Rajkhewa (The Sentinel).

RM R Ramesh (Dinakaran), K Raja Prasad Reddy (Sakshi, Vishakhapatnam), Atideb Sarkar (The Telegraph), Sharad Saxena (Hindustan Times, Patna), Rakesh Sharma (Aaj Samaj), Praveen Someshwar (The Hindustan Times), Kiran D. Thakur (Tarun Bharat, Belgaum), Biju Varghese (Mangalam Weekly), Vinay Verma (The Tribune) are also on the panel.
