Jaipur, Sep 21: Contingents from the Infantry Battalion of US Army and the Assam Regiment Battalion of Rajasthan-based Sapta Shakti command from Indian Army participated in the joint military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas'- 2019 at the Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLW) in Washington from September 5-18.
In this exercise, the training focused on specialised drills and procedures involved in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations in an urban environment. Helicopter-based mobilisation of teams for quick response was also practiced, Rajasthan-based Defence PRO Col Sombit Ghosh said.
The two armies have gained from each other's expertise and experience, in the conduct of platoon and company-level operations.In addition, the Indian contingent got a first–hand experience of operating with the 'Stryker' Infantry Combat Vehicle and the US Army gained an insight on training of an infantry unit in mountainous terrain, he added.
The exercise culminated on September 18 with a closing ceremony, to commemorate the proceedings of two weeks and showcased the growing partnership between the two nations. (UNI)
