New Delhi, Sep 18 : Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday hailed the Government's move to ban Electronic Cigarettes in the country.
Dr Vardhan on a Twitter missive said the Cabinet decision to ban e-cigarettes will provide a quantum jump towards healthy living and Health For All.'With this, the country moves several steps forward towards its goals of Fit India and Swastha Bharat,' he added.
The Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 'bold decision' to ban e-cigarettes in the country with immediate effect and said, 'This will promote public health in a big way.'
After the Cabinet meeting, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the ban would prohibit production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement of the same.
The ordinance is named as 'Promulgation of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement) Ordinance, 2019.(UNI)
