Hyderabad, Sep 17 : Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy informed the Assembly on Tuesday that the state government will provide Rs 7,250 crore financial assistance to the farmers during Kharif season 2019.
Replying to questions from members in the house during question hour, Mr Niranjan said that that the government has decided to enhance the financial assistance from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 per acre for each season—Kharif and Rabi—total Rs 10, 000 per acre per year during 2019-20.
During the year 2019-20, an amount of Rs 7,254 cr was allocated to pay for about 56.76 lakh farmers in Kharif season. Of them, Rs 4,371 crore was already been credited in the Bank accounts of the farmers. The balance amount of Rs 2,878 cr would be paid soon, the Minister said.
During the year 2018-19, the government had paid Rs 10,505 cr assistance to 51.50 lakh farmers at the rate of Rs 8000 per acre per annum for two crops (Kharif and Rabi) under Rythu Bandhu scheme, Mr Niranjan said. Mr Niranjan said that based on Telangana farmers data, the Centre had identified 33 lakh farmers were eligible for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Telangana. Under the scheme, formers would get Rs 6000 per year in three installments. So far, the Centre has released Rs 125 crore for 75,000 farmers only.UNI
