New Delhi, Sep 17 : Mnister for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday said that the draft of ‘Code on Social Security’ is ready and will be shared with stakeholders soon.
Addressing the gathering at Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) and National Safety Awards (NSA) for the performance year 2017 here at the VIgyan Bhawan, the Minister, while speaking about the upcoming initiatives of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, said that the draft code on social security, which has already been prepared, will be circulated soon for suggestions from stakeholders. In view of the labour reforms, the ministry will hold consultations with stakeholders on the revised draft.
The Labour ministry proposed a social security system to provide several important benefits to the workers in the country.
The Minister said that the Ministry has decided to open the offices of DG FASLI (Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DGFASLI) and DG MINES in Jammu & Kashmir post revocation of article 35-A and 370.Office of EPFO will be opened in J&K and Leh to provide social security to the workers of these areas, Gangwar added.
A total of 197 applications were received from different industries out of which 28 awards have been conferred.(UNI)
