Tamil super star Kamal Haasan warned of a language stir bigger than what the state witnessed when Jallikattu was banned. Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech on Hindi Diwas about Hindi as the National language to unify the country has triggered protests from various quarters, especially from South India.
Quick to react was MK Stalin leader of the DMK who refused to accept any imposition of Hindi. In a video uploaded today Kamal Haaasan has also followed suit and in no uncertain terms warned of agitation in Tamil Nadu. ‘No Shah, Sultan or Samrat can suddenly break that promise.[In the Constitution] We respect all languages but our mother language will always be Tamil. Jallikatttu was just a protest. The battle for our language will be exponentially bigger than that,’ said Kamal forcefully.
Attacking the government for its exclusionary policies, Kamal Haasan said, ‘Do not make an inclusive India into an exclusive one. All will suffer because of such short sighted folly.’
The 2 minute long video by Kamal was posted on Twitter in both English and Tamil.
