New Delhi, Sep 5 : In a tragic incident, a labourer died and six others were injured when a trolley fell down due to some mechanical failure at a construction site in Narela here on Thursday.
DDA has ordered an enquiry in the incident. A trolley, meant for carrying labourers while preparing for painting jobs etc outside of dwelling units, fell down due to some mechanical failure at around 8.30 am this morning at the construction site of EWS & Category II houses of DDA at Sector A1 to A4 Narela, being executed by M/s Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd, according to a statement issued by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Seven labourers were injured in the incident , it said. "All the injured labourers were immediately taken to hospital for treatment. Three of the labourers who got minor injuries were relieved after giving first Aid. One of the labourers, under treatment at LNJP Hospital later succumbed to injuries in the hospital," the DDA said.
Three labourers are under treatment at Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh and proper care is being taken by the contractor, it said. The DDA said it has directed the contractor to pay suitable compensation under relevant labour laws to the family of the deceased and injured.
The Superintending Engineer of the DDA has been entrusted an enquiry to enquire into the safety lapses at the site, it said. (UNI)
