Ahmedabad, Sep 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday underwent a minor surgery for lipoma at Kusum Dhirajlal (KD) hospital here. Mr Shah, (54), who arrived here last night, was successfully operated and discharged after surgery. Some routine tests were conducted and the party president underwent a minor surgery of lipoma (a kind of benign non-cancerous tumor) on the neck under local anesthesia. The operation was done successfully after which he was discharged.
A lipoma is a lump under the skin that occurs mostly due to an overgrowth of fat cells. Doctors consider lipomas to be benign tumors, and they are non-cancerous growths. According to a statement issued by the Managing Director of the hospital, Adit Desai, 'Mr Shah was admitted at about 0900 hrs at K D Hospital, Ahmedabad. He was successfully operated for lipoma at the back side of neck. After minor surgery, he has been discharged.'
The Minister had recently visited Gujarat and participated in a few public events including the 7 th convocation of the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. He is likely to stay here till tomorrow and spend time with his family at his Thaltej residence. UNI
