GDP data reflects economic emergency: Cong

Agency News

New Delhi, Aug 30 : Reacting to the GDP figures for the Q1 of the current financial year slumping to five per cent, the Congress on Friday said the GDP figures were a reflection that financial mismanagement and a spate of economic emergency was prevailing and pervading the entire economy.

In a series of tweets, AICC media In-charge Randeep Surjewala said, ''Financial mismanagement and a spate of economic emergency prevails and pervades the entire economy. The dismal and disappointing GDP data only reflects it.''

He said there was complete economic downturn, virtual shutting down of manufacturing, lagging exports and surging imports, besides loss of millions of jobs in all sectors. He also charged the BJP government of being preoccupied in shoddy headline management and cover-up job, instead of addressing the structural issues ailing the economy.

''The malady is much bigger than what it appears to be. There is complete economic downturn, virtual shutting down of manufacturing, lagging exports and surging imports, besides loss of millions of jobs in all sectors. The myopic BJP government is preoccupied in shoddy headline management and cover up job, instead of addressing the structural issues ailing the economy. This is a classic case of quacks turning into surgeons!,'' Mr Surjewala said. UNI
