Ravidas temple issue figures in apex court again

Agency News

New Delhi, Aug 27: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the demolition of centuries-old Ravidas temple in a protected forest reserve in the national Capital and seeking its reconstruction. The petitioners, Indian National Congress Haryana unit chief Ashok Tanwar and former minister Pradeep Jain, asserted that the Ravidas temple case was not properly presented to the apex court.

Plaintiffs contended that the demolition of the temple was a violation of the Right to Worship, which was a Fundamental Right. The temple, they questioned, was around 600-years-old, then how can Delhi Development Authority be the owner of the land?
