Tharoor condoles Jaitley’s demise

New Delhi, Aug 24: Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday condoled the demise of former finance minister Arun Jaitely and said it is a great loss for the country.

'Deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my friend&DelhiUniv senior @arunjaitley. We first met when he was at DUSU& I was President of StStephen’sCollegeUnion. Despite political differences we enjoyed a healthy mutual respect&debated his Budget often in LS. A great loss4India,' the Congress MP said in a tweet.

The former union minister passed away here on Saturday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was 66.

"It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon'ble member of Parliament and former finance minister at 1207 hrs on 24th August, 2019." the hospital said in a statement. He was admitted in AIIMS on August 9 and was being treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior doctors. (UNI)
