Security has been tightened across Tamil Nadu since Thursday night after intelligence reports of infiltration of a gang of terrorists into Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka.
The intelligence report said a six-member Lashkar E Toiba gang had landed on Tamil Nadu shores by sea from Sri Lanka. It is believed to have a Pakistani and a few Tamil ultras. Other details of the identities of all the six were being traced, according to police reports from Tamil Nadu. The terrorists are said to have moved to different cities in Tamil Nadu, leading to putting the State on high alert, especially the coastal districts to ensure that there was no further intrusion. Vehicle checks were intensified in many cities and there was heavy patrolling in border areas, especially in Coimbatore, bordering Kerala.
Immediately after the Easter blasts in Sri Lanka, there were reports of some terrorists infiltrating into Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The National Investigation Agency had made searches and arrested a few said to have links with the Islamic State, both in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
