New Delhi, Aug 23 : Special Judge O P Saini, on Friday, after hearing the anticipatory bail application on behalf of ex-Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti, in the Aircel-Maxis case, extended the interim protection to both and reserved its order for 3rd September.
It was submitted before the court that both the matters Aircel Maxis and INX Media were different.
Counsel for Enforcement Department submitted that both the cases involved Foreign Investment Promotion Board approvals.
Counsel for Central Bureau of Investigation and ED sought adjournment by submitting that another case pertaining to INX Media involving them was pending before the Supreme Court.
After hearing the submission on behalf of both sides, the Special Judge took strong objection to the Enforcement Department taking repeated adjournments. He observed, 'Things have become very embarrassing for me. You have been seeking adjournment day after day.'
The Judge, then extending the interim protection from arrest to them till next date of hearing and reserved its order on anticipatory bail application of Chidambarams for September 3 after granting liberty to CBI and ED to argue anytime before that date.(UNI )
