On Thursday, P Chidambaram, who was arrested in connection with the INX Media case, was produced before CBI court by the CBI officials for the trial on remand. “No, no... it is okay... I will stand,” said Chidambaram to repeated pleas to sit.

A chair was even brought to the court near the accused box where the veteran Congress leader was standing but he refused to sit. All through the proceedings, he stood in the accused box with a smile on his face.

The CBI special court in New Delhi on Thursday remanded former Finance Minister P Chidambaram to five days CBI custoday till Aug 26 in the INX media case.

Special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar said Chidambaram could meet his family members and his lawyers for 30 minutes every day during the custody. “Considering all facts and circumstances,.I am satisfied that police custody of Chidambaram for five days is fully justified”, judge Kuhar said.
