The Supreme Court will hear former Union minister P Chidambaram's application challenging the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media case around 10.30 am on Wednesday.
Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition at 10.30 am on Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, the senior legal experts of Congress such as Salman Khurshid, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and others gathered at Kapil Sibal’s residence to plan the legal strategy in the case. Senior Advocate Salman Khurshid, who is also deliberating for P Chidambaram in the case, says that the last resort for anyone in this country is Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, a group of senior lawyers has sent a letter to CBI seeking to avoid the arrest of P. Chidambaram till the Supreme Court deliver its verdict on the case. However, CBI team has made a fourth time visit at Chidambaram’s residence at Delhi. The son of P.Chidambaram, Karthi Chidambaram said to media that he did not know the whereabouts of his father.
Meanwhile, the attempt to arrest former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram by CBI and ED officials failed as they could not trace him on Tuesday night. Chidambaram is currently facing imminent arrest as the Delhi HC also turned down his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media case on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to grant urgent hearing at the end of the board to the plea mentioned by senior counsel Kapil Sibal appearing for ex-Union Minister P Chidambaram in the INX media FIPB case. Later, the matter was mentioned for early listing before Registrar, Judicial who also turned down the plea. Defence counsel further approached Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in chambers who advised them to mention before the senior most judge on Wednesday.
