New Delhi, Aug 16 : President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid floral tributes to late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his first death anniversary, at his memorial 'Sadaiv Atal', here on Friday.
Several cabinet ministers along with Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) national working president J P Nadda and Vajpayee's family members were present at a special prayer meeting, organised at his memorial. Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and other important BJP leaders also attended the prayer meeting.
Devotional songs were sung as everyone remembered the tall leader. Vajpayee, a colossus in the political firmament of India, passed away on Aug 16 last year, at the age of 93.
One of the founders of BJP, he was the first non-Indian National Congress Prime Minister to serve a full five-year term. (UNI)
