Hinting that India’s nuclear policy may change according to circumstances, Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh said that India could change its “No first use policy” of nuclear weapons.
On the eve of the crucial UN Security Council informal close door meet scheduled for Friday evening Rajnath Singh has made it clear that India’s nuclear policy of ‘No first use’ may change depending on the circumstances.
Though it is not clear whether a formal decision to change its nuclear doctrine has been officially changed, the statement coming from Defence Minister Singh, No.2 in the cabinet, is loud and clear: a warning to Pak PM Imran and General Bajwa. Rajnath Singh is known for choosing his words carefully and not known for sensational utterances.
However Rajnath Singh made it clear that no first use is the current nuclear policy.
