New Delhi,Aug 12 : The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) on Sunday recovered 75 kg Sandalwood from a foreigner at Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport Mumbai.
According to an official statement,around 0715 hrs on August 11, the CISF personnel on profiling basis, selected a foreign passenger for random checking of his luggage at Departure Gate of Terminal-2 of the said airport.
The passenger was later identified as Bakri Abbas Hussain Ahmed,a Sudanese National, who was supposed to fly to Addis Ababa by Ethiopian Airways flight.
During screening of his bag through scanning machine, some suspicious items was noticed inside the bag and on physical checking of the bag, 75 Kg Sandalwood wrapped in plastic sheet was found.
When inquired, the passenger could not produce any valid documents nor gave any satisfactory reply about carrying of such high quantity of sandalwood.
“The passenger along with the recovered andalwood worth Rs 4.9 lakh was handed over to the officials of forest department for further legal action,'' CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh told UNI.(UNI)
