New Delhi, Aug 7 : Former External Affairs Minister and one of tallest leaders of the ruling BJP Sushma Swaraj began her last journey from the party headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in Central Delhi on Wednesday to the Lodhi Road crematorium as a galaxy of senior leaders and ministers paid their last respects to her.
Among those who visited BJP headquarters to pay their last homage to the departed leader were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, and party's working president JP Nadda. Union Home Minister and party president Amit Shah along with Mr. Nadda draped the party flag on her mortal remains.
Amid chants of ``Sushma Swaraj Amar Rahe', her mortal remains were taken to a flower bedecked hearse van at the party headquarters. Her daughter Bansuri and husband Swaraj Kaushal, both offered an emotional last salute to her as party leaders and workers made efforts to have a last glimpse of the former External Affairs Minister who had endeared herself to everyone. She literally proved to be just a twitter away for those seeking help from her and External Affairs Ministry.
A large number of party workers and people from all walks of life were seen lining up to catch a last glimpse of their leader who combined grit, grace and gravitas.
A motorcade accompanied the hearse van which was escorted by the personnel from Delhi Police enroute to Lodhi Road crematorium. Several Central ministers also accompanied the hearse van.(UNI)
