New Delhi, Aug 7: Mortal remains of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj were taken from All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to her residence. The cremation will be taken place at Lodhi Estate at 3pm on Wednesday.
The former External Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader passed away on late Tuesday evening. She was 67. Swaraj was rushed to AIIMS in critical condition where she was declared dead. Several top BJP leaders and Union Ministers including party BJP MPs had arrived at AIIMS.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad had also reached AIIMS. Talking to media persons, BJP working president JP Nadda informed that Sushma Swaraj's mortal remains will be kept at her residence for people to pay their last respects.
He said around 12 noon on Wednesday, her mortal remains will be brought to the party headquarters. At 3pm, her mortal remains will be taken to Lodhi Road crematorium, where her last rites will be performed with full state honours. Born on February 14, 1953, a trained legal counsel Late Swaraj has served as the Minister of External Affairs of India from May 26, 2014 to May 30, 2019. UNI
