Chandigarh, Aug 6 : The BJP on Tuesday alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh overreacted on Kashmir issue just to please Gandhi family and criticised his decision to put a ban on ‘celebrations’.
BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh said that the orders passed by the Punjab government regarding imposing a ban on celebrating and welcoming the Jammu and Kashmir decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, were 'against the spirit of nationalism and democracy'.
“It is for the first time that a state government has chosen to suppress the voice of the people who came out to appreciate a historic decision taken by the Union Government. In fact, Amarinder government, by its decisions and actions, is itself creating panic among the people of the state without any reason or rhyme,” the BJP leader alleged.
The BJP national secretary claimed that the duo have full support and backing of people of the country who wanted a permanent, truthful and nationalistic solution to the problems of common people of the state who were fed up with the negative propaganda and anti-national actions of separatists and militants.
He said the decision would mark an end to the era of blood-shed and take the region ahead for an overall development of the area and its people.
“As the state now almost stands converted into two separate Union Territories, it would now be the responsibility of the Union government to see that the region remains peaceful and a new era of development is ushered. Peace will bring along fresh investments and a spurt in tourism will change the economy and destiny of the people who have suffered a lot in the last seven decades,” he added.
