Doctors said that the condition of Unnao rape survivor continues to be critical even after 48 hours of a car crash in which her body met with critical injuries.

The next 48 hours are extremely critical, according to the doctors. She is currently treated at King George’s Medical University Trauma Centre in Lucknow. Her aunt and a woman relative — who were the co-passengers and got injured in the accident — succumbed to their injuries. The car they were travelling was hit by a truck at Rae Bareilly on Monday.

The sources from the hospital said the woman suffered a rib fracture, and bleeding in her lungs. She is currently lodged on ventilator and unconscious since the accident. Apart from serious head injuries, she also has multiple leg fractures.

Still there is bleeding in the lungs and several chest pipes have been inserted to assist her lung functioning.

The accident occurred when the rape survivor, her lawyer and her aunts were travelling from Fatehpur to Rae Bareli jail to meet her uncle who is lodged there.

Relatives blamed that MLA Sengar and his associates had planned the attack. The woman, who belongs to Makhi police station area in Unnao, had in 2017 alleged that Kuldeep Sengar, a four-time BJP MLA who represents Bangermau in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, had raped her at his residence.

The case was only reported in April 2018 after the victim attempted suicide outside Yogi Adityanath's house, alleging that the police had not acted on her complaint for several months. Later Sengar was arrested.

After huge outcry from the Oppsition parites, the CBI has already taken up the accident case.
