Benin, Jul 30 : President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday hailed Indian community's contribution in Benin’s development and also called them the true cultural ambassadors of India while urging them to create new business and investment collaborations between the two nations.
In his address to the Indian community at the national assembly of the Republic of Benin, Mr Kovind said this is his first visit abroad after the successful conduct of the General Elections and added that India’s seven-phase, six-week long parliamentary elections, held in April-May this year, with an electorate of 900 million and over 67 per cent voter turnout, has been the world’s largest democratic exercise so far.
"Today is a historic day in Benin-India relations. It is an honour for me to be paying the first-ever State visit from India to your beautiful country. This has been made even more special by your gracious invitation for me to address your temple of democracy," he added.(UNI)
