New Delhi, Jul 27 : Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra, who recently took over as Himachal Pradesh Governor, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday. It was a courtesy call, sources said.
Mr Mishra, 78, was apparently 'denied' ticket for re-election from Deoria in Uttar Pradesh in this year's general elections on the ground of age. Among the BJP veterans, L K Advani, M M Joshi, Shanta Kumar, B C Khanduri, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Sumitra Mahajan and Karia Munda were denied tickets for the Lok Sabha polls this year.
Most of these leaders later said they opted out of electoral contest.
Among the seats, BJP chief Amit Shah himself contested from Gandhinagar - which for long has been represented by party's co-founder and patriarch L K Advani. Between 2014 and 2019, Mr Mishra represented Deoria parliamentary constituency.
He also served as Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises till September 2017 and for a brief period was chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. (UNI)
