Siliguri, Jul 26 : The “20 years of Kargil War” was today celebrated by the formation and units of Indian Army in different parts of army bases in north Bengal and Sikkim.
The celebration was organised at Sukna, Kalimpong, Gangtok, Binnaguri and Bengdubi, wherein various events were conducted like motivation lectures, interaction with Kargil War veterans and audiovisual display extolling the supreme sacrifices and the stupendous achievements by the Indian Army during Operation Vijay.
Kargil War veterans addressed officers JCOs and OR and their families, at Binnaguri and Kalimpong wherein they narrated their experiences during the Operation Vijay.
Lieutenant General CP Mohanty, General Officer Commanding, Trishakti Corps laid a wreath at Sukna War Memorial with solemnity and military fanfare with officers, JCOs and OR to pay homage to the valiant brave soldiers, who gave the supreme sacrifice of laying down their lives for the nation.
Major General RC Tiwari, SM, General Officer Commanding, Black Cat Division laid a wreath at Sherathang War Memorial and Brigadier Pankaj Singh, VSM, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Kirpan Division laid wreath at Place of Remembrance at Binnaguri.(UNI)
