The tainted real estate firm Amrapali has diverted big chunk of investment to cricketer MS Dhoni’s two firms, the forensic auditors informed the Supreme Court in a shocking revelation.
Supreme Court-appointed forensic auditors, Pawan Kumar Aggarwal and Ravinder Bhatia, have observed in their forensic report that Amrapali entered into shady deals with companies where former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Dhoni have major stakes
The two companies, Rhiti Sports Management Private Limited and Amrapali Mahi Developers Private Limited, are now under the scanner. While Dhoni has major stakes in Rhiti, his wife Sakshi is a director of Amrapali Mahi Developers Private Limited. Dhoni was a brand ambassador of Amrapali from 2009 to 2016.
SC appointed forensic Auditor’s revelation came up one day after the Supreme Court made a landmark verdict on Amrapali in which the Supreme Court on came to the rescue of tens of thousands of homebuyers left stranded by the Amrapali Group, ordering state-run National Buildings Construction Corp. Ltd (NBCC) to take over and complete its stalled projects. The Apex Court had also had cancelled Amrapali’s registration under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (Rera), and directed the Enforcement Directorate to investigate money laundering and diversion of funds.
Earlier, during the hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the Amrapali group to disclose all the detailed transactions with cricketer M S Dhoni who worked between 2009-2016, as its brand ambassador.
