Bengal, 21 July, 2019: West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Dilip Ghosh retorted to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s allegation of poaching saying none of the TMC members, including chief minister, had such a high "market value" of Rs.2 Crore. Earliter of the day, while addressing a Martyr's Day rally, Mamata Banerjee had alleged that the BJP was trying to poach the TMC MLAs by offering them Rs 2 crore.
Mamata Banerjee also alleged that the central agencies have been threatening Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and MLAs to "get in touch" with the BJP or face a jail term in chit fund scams. Dilip Ghosh termed all her allegations as "baseless". He also slammed Mamata saying the TMC MLAs have no popularity and people do not know who the TMC MLAs are.
"I dare Mamata Banerjee to bring her MLAs who have said that they were offered Rs 2 crore and a petrol pump to join the BJP. There is no MLA in the party who deserves this amount. People don't even know who their MLAs are...they have no popularity... Even if they stand idle on the road, no one would be interested in buying them. In fact, Mamata Banerjee is also nowhere," Dilip Ghosh said.
He claimed that the rally organised by the TMC annually witnessed the lowest turnout in its history this year.
