New Delhi, Jul 19: The Government on Friday in Lok Sabha said that 'Ayushman Bharat' is not a brand of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought this scheme for the poor people of the whole country and therefore every State Government should rise above the politics to implement this scheme for the benefit of the public.
In response to the questions asked during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha regarding the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan said till now more than 16 thousand government Hospitals have been registered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and around eight crore cards have been issued.
Responding to a question, the Minister said in addition to West Bengal, this scheme has not been implemented in Telangana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab whereas constructive talks are going on with Odisha.
Dr Vardhan said he is also having talks in this regard with the Chief Minister of Delhi.
Dr Vardhan rejected AITC member Sudip Bandyopadhyay's argument that West Bengal government's health scheme was better and said, "Ayushman Bharat is not our brand." He said the Prime Minister has brought this scheme for the poor people of the entire country, so every state government should rise above politics and implement it for the betterment of the people.
