New Delhi, Jul 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'One Nation One Card' on March 4, 2019 at Ahmedabad, which enables seamless travel by metro rails and other transport systems across the country, besides retail shopping and purchases, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Monday.
The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) programme, as envisaged by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, offers offline transactions, independent of network connectivity, by utilising the existing infrastructure with banks, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said in a written reply here.
'This card may be used for all payment applications (low value - offline/high value - online), including transit, retail, toll, parking and smart cities. The stored value of the card offers the offline transaction proposition across all low value segments,' he added. (UNI)
