Ahmedabad, Jul 9 : A local court here on Tuesday reissued summons to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi in connection with a defamation case lodged by a BJP corporator here for his alleged derogatory statement against Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah.
According to Mr Gandhi's counsel Prakash Patel, Magistrate R B Etaliya in its summons ordered the Congress leader to appear before it on August 9, the next date of hearing. Earlier on May 1, the court had issued the summons which sought his appearance on Tuesday but as it was issued on the address of the then Lok Sabha speaker, it was returned and the summons were reissued at his personal address.
The case was filed by BJP Corporator of the AMC from Khadia ward in the city Krishnavadan Brahmbhatt. He alleged that Mr Gandhi's utterances in the election rally of April 23 in Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh was derogatory as Mr Shah has already been discharged in the Shohrabuddin Shaikh encounter case by a CBI court.
