UAE Foreign Minister to kick-start three-day visit to India from Sunday evening

New Delhi, Jul 7 : Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be arriving here on Sunday late evening on a three-day visit to India.

According to official sources here, the visiting dignitary will hold talks with his counterpart Dr S Jaishankar on Monday.The visit is aimed at providing the two sides with an opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation to further strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement on July 4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the UAE in August 2015 during which the two countries decided to elevate their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Mr Modi also visited the UAE in February, 2018. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had visited India during February, 2016 and in January, 2017 when he was the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations."India and the UAE enjoy warm, close and multi-faceted relations underpinned by historic cultural, religious and economic linkages which stand elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The UAE is India’s third-largest trade partner and fourth largest energy supplier. UAE is also the first country to participate in India’s ‘Strategic Petroleum Reserves’ programme", the statement said.

MEA further said - a 3.3 million-strong Indian community, biggest in the Gulf region, has made the UAE its second home and is contributing to its development. As the chair of OIC, UAE invited India as the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the 46th Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of OIC in Abu Dhabi in March 2019 which making a path-breaking diplomatic impact was attended by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.The UAE Foreign Minister will also address a Business Round Table Interaction with CEOs of Indian Companies on Monday.He will call on the Prime Minister later in the day, sources said.(UNI)
