New Delhi, Jul 5 : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the Modi government has kept 'Village, Poor and Farmer' in focus of every programme. Presenting the Union Budget for 2019-20 in the Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister said, 'Government keeps Gaon, Garib and Kisan at the centre of everything we do, of every programme.''Government will work with states to allow farmers to benefit from electronic National Agriculture Market (eNAM). Ease of doing business and ease of living should apply to farmers too,' she said.
"Our import bill will be reduced with farmers service. Zero budget farming....we need to replicate this innovative model,' the Finance Minister said. ``Zero budget farming will help in doubling farmers income,' she said. 'We will invest widely in agricultural infrastructure. We will support private entrepreneurship in driving value addition to farmers produce and those from allied activities too, like bamboo, timber and also for generating renewable energy,' she said.
The Finance Minister said the Government will set up 10,000 new farming productive organisations in next 5 years. Referring to fisheries, she said, 'Robust fisheries management framework will be set up under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sambada Yojana to address critical gaps in value chain.'UNI
