New Delhi, Jul 5 : Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday lauded his successor Nirmala Sitharaman and said the budget proposals presented in the Lok Sabha would serve the larger interest of all sectors of the economy.
"Congratulations to PM Narendra Modi and FM Nirmala Sitharaman for the budget 2019-20. The budget besides being a policy document for boosting growth, serves the larger interest of all sectors of the economy," Mr Jaitley tweeted.
BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Jagdambika Pal also welcomed the budget proposals and justified one per cent cess on petrol, saying the government would need money to fund highways and other infrastructure.
"This is people's Budget and the cess proposal of Re 1 on fuel is justified as the money can be used for doing away with the differences between two countries we had - Bharat and India," Mr Pal told reporters."This is a Budget with a long term vision and will do justice to Gramin Bharat," he said.(UNI)
