Startups have got a pride of place in Nirmala Sitharaman's maiden Budget presented on Friday.
From a dedicated TV programme, startups are to get a series of incentives like eased FDI rules into certain startup segments like grocery, food delivery and e-commerce. Besides, there would be a number of schemes to enhance the digital payment system which will benefit fintech startups, and incentives for electric vehicles that would prove beneficial to startups in the sector and keep them secure from angel taxes.
The startup exclusive TV programme would be for facilitating the coming together of venture capitalists and emerging startups. It would be designed and run by startups themselves. The Minister said the government would help to set up roughly 80 livelihood business incubators and 20 tech business incubators this fiscal. This is expected to create 75,000 skilled entrepreneurs in industries linked to the farming sector.
