New Delhi, Jul 2 : Congress, on Tuesday, lashed out at BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government in Maharashtra for the havoc in Mumbai following heavy rainfall for two days and said, "drunk with arrogance of power, an incompetent and corrupt" government leaves Mumbai to lurch in this flood season.

"18 people died in Mumbai and crumbling infra is for everyone to see. Will SS-BJP own responsibility for this mess, ever?" tweeted AICC communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala.

The Congress also criticised the Devendra Fadnavis government and asked where all the money has gone, that it claimed to have spent in the last three years.

"Over 16 people have lost their lives and our flooded financial capital has screeched to a halt. In the last three years BMC has spent over Rs. 4,000 Cr on 'upgrading' roads and drains, yet Mumbai has seen no change. Where has all that money gone?", the Congress tweeted.

Mumbai and adjacent areas have been witnessing incessant rains for the last two days and leading to death of at least 18 persons.

According to the Meteorological department, Mumbai and nearby areas will witness more rainfall and parts of suburban railways in Mumbai has been stopped.

The heavy rainfall has also affected airline services with flights being diverted or cancelled as the main runway of the Mumbai airport was closed after a flight overshot the runway while landing. (UNI)
