Crashed AN-32 was completely airworthy: Rajnath

New Delhi, Jul 1 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday sought to clear the air on the airworthiness of the AN 32 aircraft that crashed in Arunachal Pradesh last month, leading to death of 13 Indian Air Force personnel.

'It's a tragedy and often leads people to question air-worthiness of the plane. I want to clear the air on this. This airplane was completely airworthy,' he told Rajya Sabha in a reply during the Question hour.The Minister said the mortal remains of the 13 people who lost lives in the crash have been recovered and sent to their families.

In reply to a question on when the inquiry report will be released, the Minister said, 'The committee of inquiry was put together within hours of the crash, and the reason can be known only after the inquiry report is out.'To another question, the Minister said he will definitely review the reports of the committees on previous accidents and try understand further what went wrong.(UNI)
