At a time when reports of former bureaucrats and ministers not vacating their government residences even after completing their term is the fashion, the Bharatiya Janata Party veteran, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, showed them the way like a boss.
On Saturday, Mrs. Swaraj confirmed she has moved out of her official residence in New Delhi and requested the people not to contact her at her previous address or phone numbers.
The former External Affairs Minister, Mrs. Swaraj took to her Twitter and said: 'I have moved out of my official residence 8, Safdarjung Lane, New Delhi. Please note that I am not contactable on the earlier address and phone numbers.'
The tweet invited a flurry of reactions from social media who lauded her for her honesty, character and respecting taxpayer's money.
Mrs. Swaraj had served as Chief Minister of Delhi in the past and held several positions as a Union Minister. She was External Affairs Minister from 2014 to 2019. She did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and her term as a Rajya Sabha MP also expired this year.
Meanwhile, the former civil aviation minister, Mr. Jayant Sinha, is also set to vacate his bungalow though he continues to be an MP while BJP veterans Mr. LK Advani and Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi are likely to continue in their official bungalows due to security considerations though they are no longer MPs.
