New Delhi, Jun 27: The government on Thursday maintained that Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project and other road projects are going on at the desired pace and wherever there are halts to the works or delay, essentially it is due to the land acquisition issue.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed Lok Sabha during Question Hour that in several states, the road works are impacted and delayed due to land acquisition issue and in this context, he suggested that the elected lawmakers can also try to influence the decision making process at the state level.
"You also try to find out at your level what the cause of the delay is," Mr Gadkari told party colleague Tapan Gogoi from Assam. He said at times there are delays due to forest clearance and such impediments at the state level.
In this matter, he has already held meeting with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and maintained that all elected MPs should also try to help in resolving the stalemates at the state levels. Answering to supplementary queries, the Minister also informed the House that Mumbai-Goa road project will be completed by December end. (UNI)
