Mariammal had found out that her sons Manithurai and Manikandan were being treated as bonded labourers and working in a hotel. They were not given jobs in a garment factory as promised by the agent and were not being paid their salary. With difficulty the mother paid a hefty sum of Rs 88000 and Manikandan was able to return. Now she wants the government to help get Manithurai also back home.
She had sent both her sons in January to Thailand through an agent who had promised them lucrative jobs in a garment factory. She had paid the agent the sum of Rs. 2.70 lakhs to take them across to Thailand. Mariammal herself works in a garment factory at Tiruppur.
