New Delhi, Jun 26 : BJP member Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Wednesday called for constitution of a House committee which would guide the country for 2020 Olympics to be held in Japan.
Speaking during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Rudy pointed out, 'We are just behind China if you see the population of the country, but lag far behind when the number of medals won is counted.' He urged the Chair to constitute a House Committee to overlook and guide for the 2020 Olympics to be held in Tokyo so that India excels in the games.
Rudy said in Rio Olympics 2016, the US won 121 medals, Great Britain- 67 and China- 70 medals. He said the country aims to be five trillion economy and excelled in every arena including Space, but lags in the number of medals won during the Olympics.
Newly-elected Trinamool members Nusrat Jahan Ruhi and Mimi Chakraborty were also among the several debutant MPs who spoke for the first time.
Ms Nusrat Jahan won from Basirhat while Ms Chakraborty from Jadavpur in West Bengal and raised demands for their respective constituencies. (UNI)
