New Delhi, Jun 25: More than 8.78 lakh new subscribers have joined the provident fund scheme of the Employees’ Provident Fund in April this year, the government announced on Tuesday.
According to the data released by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, in April 2019, there were 8,78,197 subscribers. Of them 6.78 lakh men and around 2 lakh were female employees. Apart from this, there are 28 others, while two have not disclosed their identity.
In the previous financial year, there were 39.44 lakh new shareholders who had joined with the provident fund scheme.
Around 10.88 lakh new employees have subscribed the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme in April this year. In last financial year, 2.75 crore new employees had joined the scheme.
Besides, around 55,000 employees have adopted the National Pension Scheme till April 2019. In the last financial year, 7.32 lakh employees were enrolled in the NPS, the Ministry added. (UNI)
