Kolkata, Jun 25 : Four Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists, suspected to have been involved in anti-India activities and engaged in recruiting unsuspected youth for the terror group, have been arrested from two entry points of Howrah and Sealdah stations in the city after the Kolkata Police laid an ambush following specific inputs.
Police investigating the trails of Bangladesh-based outfit on Tuesday said among the four arrested Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists, three hail from Bangladesh and one from Birbhum district of West Bengal, possessing Islamist State literature and other incriminating documents. While two terrorists, identified as Md Jiaur Rahman and Mamonur Rashid - the Bangladeshis, were arrested from close to Sealdah station early on Tuesday, two others Md Sahin Alam and Robiul Islam were arrested from Howrah Station yesterday.
The Sealdah arrest was made following interrogation of Sahin Alam and Robiul Islam. Robiul Islam is a resident of Birbhum, a link of the JMB for recruiting unsuspected youth and collecting fund for the terror group. Police said they have seized several incriminating documents, cell phones, sim cards, Islamist video, jihadi literature and money. The investigating officials, who have taken the quartet to a local court in the city for judicial production, will have them in their custody for further probe, said all the four were active in the social media.
