New Delhi, Jun 24 : A bill which seeks to allow trusts to set up units in special economic zones (SEZs) was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
Introducing the Bill, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, said ''The Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2019 replaces the Special economic Zones (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019.''After the amendment of sub-section (v) of section 2 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, a trust or any entity notified by the Central Government will be eligible to be considered for grant of permission to set up a unit in Special Economic Zones.
The Bill amends Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, which was enacted to provide for the establishment, development and management of the SEZs for the promotion of exports.(UNI)
