New Delhi, Jun 24: Government respects all languages, including Hindi, and a new education policy is being drafted which, so far, cannot be called the government policy, the Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.
'The government has been working on empowering all Indian languages and it respects all languages,' Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said while responding to a supplementary during Question Hour. Asaduddin Owaisi of All India Majlis-eIttehad-ul-Muslimeen said the Minister has not replied directly to point D of the written question whether he wants to make Hindi a compulsory language in all states.
Mr Nishank said they have just prepared the draft of the policy and has invited suggestions from people. 'Please read and give suggestions to improve. It is just a draft not the policy.'Later, Speaker Om Birla said the education policy is a serious matter and if the opposition wants, a 30-minute debate can be held on it. (UNI)
